Clerk’s Department
The Clerk is responsible for all statutory duties under the Municipal Act and other legislation.   The Clerk’s Department co-ordinates the preparation and distribution of Council and Committee agendas, reports and background material.

In addition, the Clerk’s Department is responsible for;

The Township Clerk, in addition to other statutory functions, is also a Division Registrar for the office of the Registrar General of the Province and is responsible for the following:the registration and 

  • recording of deaths occurring in the municipality
  • the issuing of marriage licences.

The Clerk, as the Freedom of Information Coordinator, is also responsible for access requests under the Municipal Freedom of information and Protection of Privacy Act.
The Clerk's Department also oversees the activities of the Culture and Recreation Services as well as Municipal Law Enforcement Services

Municipal Law Enforcement Services
As a section within the Clerk’s Department, Municipal Law Enforcement is responsible for:

  • the enforcement of municipal By-laws, including the Property Standards, Fire Burning, Parking, Noise, etc
  • investigating and responding to complaints received from the public
  • canine control services

Municipal Law Enforcement initially seeks voluntary compliance and will proceed with legal action, if required, to gain compliance.

Control of Dogs within the Township of Tay
Inquiries and complaints regarding canine control infractions such as; permit dog to run at large, permit noise from dog likely to disturb, fail to remove dog excrement from property and dog attacks, please contact the Municipal Bylaw Enforcement Officer/Canine Control at 534-7248 ext. 248.
