In 1991 the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act came into force for all municipalities and local boards in Ontario.

The Act has a number of provisions dealing with the collection, use and disclosure of personal information. To access detailed information about exemptions and procedures relating to the act or its regulations, refer to the Ontario Information and Privacy Commissioners Office .

The Clerks Department is responsible for all requests for information under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).

The Township has a Privacy Policy to ensure compliance with the intent and requirements of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).

Tay strives to provide as much information as possible while still complying with the legislation.

Requests for information under MFIPPA should be completed on the application form and must be accompanied by the $5.00 application fee.

Under the legislation, the municipality has thirty days to respond to such requests but tries to respond as quickly as possible.
