We Are The Villagers Snow Angel Gala 2020

A special formal fundraising dinner gala hosted by the Matyas family on the birthday of the late Julianna Matyas, co-founder of our local children's charity We Are The Vilalgers. Please join is in celebrating the memory and accomplishments of our co-founder while fundraising for the important kids programs at We Are The Villagers. Enjoy elegant cocktails and hors d’ouevres, dinner, whisky & wine tastings, live entertainment, a silent auction, and more. Snowshoe Eco-Tours at Wye Marsh

3 hours, 4 kilometers, woodlands & wildlife! Experience areas of the Wye Marsh that are otherwise not open to the general visiting public! After a brief lesson on the art of snowshoeing, you will head out in search of the many mysteries that animal tracks & signs present. Hungry chickadees that like to eat right out of your hand will follow you along the trail! Warm up by the fire for a snack break of bannock, hot chocolate, and tea along the route. Rentals are included and no experience is necessary!

Winter Finches Birding Workshop at Wye Marsh

The Winter Finches Workshop will include insights into identification of all Ontario finches, how best to attract finches to your backyard (feeders/feed), a look into yearly and lifetime cycles that finches follow, and an interpretive hike to observe finches. Open to all experience levels of birders! There is no prior knowledge needed, just come with a smile (and your favorite field guide/ binoculars if you have them)!

Marsh by Moonlight: Snowshoe Series at Wye Marsh

After learning about the Marsh at night through hoots, chatter, coos, yips and howls relax by the fire and enjoy a roasted snack and a warm drink. Space is very limited as we like to keep group sizes small to ensure the best possibility for wildlife encounters!

Our knowledgeable naturalists will lead participants during short programs that are designed to fulfill specific badge requirements. Winter's Programs are: Fire Building, Shelter Building, Into to Knots, Winter Games, Animal Tracking, and Bannock Roasting. These programs are up to the leaders to determine badge eligibility. This change is designed to make badge days more flexible for troop leaders!

Wye Marsh Backyard Birding Workshop: Feeder Birds

This workshop will introduce the budding birder to the basics of bird watching, from how to use binoculars and understanding the details of a bird identification book, to learning bird calls and other identification skills. No experience is needed! Can't skate? Downhill skiing or snowboarding not your speed? Birding could be the winter hobby for you! This workshop is a great opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to get involved in a winter activity! On the chilliest of days this winter you will be able to witness the splendors of nature, even if you aren’t willing to leave the cozy warmth of your home. Birding can happen in all weather!

Coldest Night of the Year

Waypoint is partnering with The Guesthouse Shelter for the Coldest Night of the Year. This family-friendly walk raises money for charities serving hungry, homeless, and hurting people in our community.
