Snowshoe Eco-Tours at Wye Marsh

3 hours, 4 kilometers, woodlands & wildlife! Experience areas of the Wye Marsh that are otherwise not open to the general visiting public! After a brief lesson on the art of snowshoeing, you will head out in search of the many mysteries that animal tracks & signs present. Hungry chickadees that like to eat right out of your hand will follow you along the trail! Warm up by the fire for a snack break of bannock, hot chocolate, and tea along the route. Rentals are included and no experience is necessary!

Owl Prowl at Wye Marsh

Location: Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre, 16160 Highway 12 E, Tay, ON

While winter seems to drag on for most of us, the longer days trigger Simcoe County’s resident wild owls to begin prepping for a busy nesting season! Join Raptor Educators Tom Goldsmith and Delaney Scott, with a combined 40 years of experience in Ontario Raptor behaviour ecology and identification, as they guide attendants on an Owl Prowl. This special event will include a short indoor introduction to the 5 species of owls that commonly inhabit the Wye Marsh, Following that, your hosts Tom and Delaney will lead a nocturnal hike on our trails to explore a variety of likely looking habitat owl nesting sites in hopes of catching a glimpse or more likely a call or two of one of our local nocturnal raptors.

Building Safe Communities For People Living With Dementia

Dementia is a word used to describe cognitive changes resulting from Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Because of these changes, people living with dementia are at an increased risk for social isolation, falling prey to frauds and scams, being the target of stigma and for going missing. As a community, we can help people feel included and safe from harm. Building Safe Communities for People Living with Dementia provides you with proactive steps that you can do to help your friends, family and neighbors live as active participants in their community for as long as possible. We want to be able to bring more awareness within our community about Autism and reach out to families going through similar realities, like ourselves.
