Georgian Bay Coastal Route

Gratrix Garden Lilies

Gratrix Garden Lilies is a display garden filled with Asiatic lilies, day lilies and peony varieties. The rainbow of colours and rich scents truly make this attraction a beautiful experience and you can purchase lilies to take the experience back to your own garden.

Martyrs Shrine

The Martyrs Shrine honours the eight Jesuit saints who lived, worked and died there over 350 years ago. The grounds, including the famous Shrine Church and 74 pleasantly landscaped acres invite you into prayer and tranquility. Visit and learn about the Jesuit missionaries, Jean de Brébeuf, Gabriel Lalement, and their companions who were responsible for bringing Christianity to Canada over 350 years ago.

Sainte Marie among the Hurons

Sainte Marie among the Hurons is a recreated, 17th century French Jesuit mission headquarters where you can experience the interaction of the French and native Wendat Huron nation. Follow in the footsteps of Ontario's first Europeans at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, a unique time in Canadian history when French missionaries lived and worked among the Wendat. It's a rare chance to see the earliest in Canadian pioneer life through guided or self-guided visits. Sainte-Marie among the Hurons will shed light on one of the earliest examples of the introduction of Christianity into Aboriginal culture.

S.S. Keewatin Maritime Museum

S.S. Keewatin maritime museum is a must see attraction! This ship was a luxury cruise ship that carried passengers and cargo between the ports of Thunder Bay and Port McNicoll. This ship is created in the same design as the Titanic and is the only Edwardian Style ship left in the world! A toured visit of the historic ship is recommended. Don't forget to visit the engine room where you can see the engine spark to life.

St. Louis and St. Ignace

Tay Township has two National Historic Sites of Canada of significant heritage value. These sites are protected under the Historic Sites and Monuments Act by the Federal Government.

Sugar Ridge Retreat Centre

Sugar Ridge Retreat Centre is a getaway offering yoga and nia classes, special occasion spa services, meditation and musical guests, retreat cabin accommodations and wholesome, vegetarian meals including many organic and local ingredients. Sugar Ridge is located in the heights of Tay with wonderful views within a rural wilderness setting. They also offer Bed and Breakfast service.

Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre

The Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre is nature at its best! You're invited to leap into a nature experience you will always remember. Take a leisurely walk in the woods or mountain bike. They have 25 kilometers of cross country track se trails and snowshoe trails and rental equipment. The Wye Marsh is designated as an important birding area and home to many rare species of mammals, reptiles and birds that can be seen while walking their extensive boardwalk network over the marsh. You can also feed the chickadees from your hand! The majestic Trumpeter Swan, a former extirpated species now having a population of over 400 and growing, make their home at the Marsh thanks to a successful repopulation program started there in the 1980s. The Wye Marsh has canoe and kayaking tours along with many other activities and special events. It's a wonderful place that you will want to visit again and again.
