Tay Horticulture Committee

PUBLIC NOTICE: Please be advised that due to the COVID-19 pandemic this Committee is not currently holding meetings.

As a sub-committee of the Public Works Committee, the purpose of the Tay Township Horticulture Committee is to foster civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community participation in horticulture. Since its creation in 2009, the Committee has accomplished the following:

  • Redesign and planting of garden at the Municipal Office.
  • Redesign and replanting of perennial garden at the Port McNicoll Library.
  • New garden planted with the Waubaushene Recreation Committee 'Benny Club'.
  • New perennial garden sitting space at the Port McNicoll Cenotaph.
  • New perennial garden around the newly restored Victoria Harbour Range Light.
  • Designation of an Official Flower for the municipality - The 'Night Beacon' Daylily.
  • New perennial garden at Martyr's Shrine Administration Building.
  • Creation of an Adopt-A-Garden Program. 
  • Creation of Tay Blooms Event with free mulch pick up and plant exchange held the 1st Saturday in June.
  • Creation of a quarterly newsletter.
