Tay, Ontario: Tay Township, in consultation with Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, has issued a boil water advisory as a precaution due to loss of water pressure caused by damage to a watermain valve on Triple Bay Road. Areas affected include Triple Bay Road north of Talbot Street, Bayview Avenue, Georgian Lane, Hilltop Drive, Glacier Trail, Dawlish Avenue, and Sunset Court. Affected properties have had notices hand delivered.
Routine water sampling will be completed and staff are monitoring the situation. This is a precautionary measure to ensure public safety.
The advisory will remain in effect until sample results from the laboratory indicate there are no concerns. When the advisory has been lifted, affected residents will be notified by hand-delivered notices.
Tay Township advises that:
- Water used for consumption must be:
- Heated to a rolling boil for at least one (1) minute prior to use (store in a clean covered container); or
- Commercially bottled water or water from a known safe source.
- Municipal water should not be used for drinking, baby formula, juice, ice, washing fruit or vegetables, or brushing your teeth unless it has been boiled first.
- Home filtration devices (filters) do not kill bacteria.
The Township thanks users for their patience and understanding while this work is completed.
