Canada Post Strike: Mail Service Disruptions
As of September 25, 2025, The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) launched a national strike. Mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered for the duration of the national strike, and some post offices will be closed. Service guarantees are suspended for items already in the postal network and no new items will be accepted until the national disruption is over.
How to receive your Tay Township Tax and Water/Wastewater bills and reminder notices during the Canada Post Strike:
- Sign up for E-Billing! Choose to receive your tax and/or water and wastewater bills and reminder notices directly to your email. Sign up today, complete the E-Billing Enrollment Form.
- Visit the Municipal Office during regular business hours to pick up a physical copy of your current bill or notice.
Reminder, failure to receive a bill or notice does not relieve a taxpayer from payment or liability from late payment penalty. The Treasury Department staff have no authority to waive penalty or interest for any reason.
To avoid late fees, interruptions, or delays, Tay Township has several options available for making payments promptly and securely.
- Pre-Authorized Payment Plans: Sign up for pre-authorized payments for taxes and water/wastewater billing. Forms are available at the Municipal Office or on our website.
- Telephone and Online Banking: Payments can be made through most major financial institutions. For tax accounts, enter your 19-digit roll number (no spaces/dashes) and for water/wastewater accounts, enter the 8-digit account number (omit decimal).
- In Person: Payments can be made at the Tay Municipal Office (450 Park Street, Victoria Harbour) via cash, cheque (payable to Tay Township), debit card, or money order. Please note, credit cards are not accepted for in-person payments.
- Online Credit Card Payments: Payments can also be made online by credit card through Paymentus Corporation, a third-party service. Please note, service fees apply—2.5% for VISA/MasterCard, or 1.5% for VISA Debit/MasterCard Debit. Processing may take 2-3 business days. Pay Online by Credit Card.
- After-Hours Drop Box: Cheques, along with your payment stub, can be placed in the After Hours Drop Box, located to the right of the front doors at the Municipal Office. Please do not place cash in the drop box.
