Conservation and Watering Restrictions Reminder

Water is our most important natural resource. Responsible water usage is the key to conserving this valuable resource and ensuring it's available to us in times of need.

During the summer months, water consumption in Tay Township can more than double due to lawn and garden watering.

To help manage water usage and ensure a sufficient supply is on hand for an emergency, such as firefighting, Tay Township has a bylaw in place which regulates how and when water can be used for non-essential needs.

Outside Watering Restrictions

Outside water use restrictions are for residents on the Municipal water system. Water restrictions are in place to ensure adequate quantities of water are available for consumer demand and firefighting purposes.

Outside use is RESTRICTED to the days of the month corresponding with your civic address, meaning:

  • EVEN NUMBERED HOUSES ON EVEN CALENDAR DAYS
  • ODD NUMBERED HOUSES ON ODD CALENDAR DAYS

Outside use is restricted to the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Swimming Pools

  • Properties with a swimming pool must install a vacuum breaker on all outdoor water faucets.
  • Swimming pools cannot be filled with water directly from the municipal water system.
  • Owners can top up pools occasionally, but only during the approved outdoor water use hours.

Outside Water Restrictions ensure adequate quantities of water for consumer demand and firefighting purposes. Individuals who don’t comply with these regulations could be fined a minimum of $150.00.
