Notice of Proposed Amendments to Cemetery By-law 2019-49 Rules and Regulations for the Care and Maintenance of Cemeteries Owned and Operated by the Township of Tay

THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF TAY

NOTICE OF PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO BY-LAW 2019-49

TAKE NOTICE that The Corporation of the Township of Tay proposes to pass By-law 2024-23 to amend Cemetery By-law 2019-49, being a By-law to provide for Rules and Regulations for the Care and Maintenance of Cemeteries owned by the Township of Tay.

AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that the Corporation of the Township of Tay proposes the additions of lot (grave) sizes and the respective increases to the monument/marker maximums to ensure all cemeteries owned and operated by the Township of Tay are reflected within the By-law.

AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that the Corporation of the Township of Tay proposes the removal of reference to “scattering rights” and variations thereof as it is not a service offered in the cemeteries owned and operated by the Township of Tay.

AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that the proposed By-law will come before the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Tay at its regular meeting to be held in-person on the 24th day of April, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. At that time Council will hear in-person or by his/her solicitor or agent, any person who has applied to be heard. AND TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the cemetery operator (Township of Tay) will allow anyone who is interested in accessing the proposed By-law to make copies of it during business hours.

AND TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that all proposed cemetery by-law and amendments are subject to the Registrar, Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002, Bereavement Authority of Ontario’s approval. The by-law is not effective until it is approved by the Registrar.
