Notice: Sewer Acoustic Testing Underway in Tay Township

As part of our ongoing commitment to proactive infrastructure maintenance, Tay Township has partnered with Rapid Assessment Technology Services (RATS) Inc. to deliver acoustic testing of sanitary sewers throughout the community.

Field work began on May 14, 2025, starting in Port McNicoll and will continue toward Victoria Harbour. The sequence of inspections may shift depending on field conditions.

About the Project

Using non-invasive acoustic technology allows the Township to:

  • Quickly identify areas requiring sewer maintenance
  • Focus resources where they are needed most
  • Reduce the risk of sanitary sewer overflows and basement flooding
  • Save up to 70% of annual costs compared to traditional flushing and CCTV methods.

What Residents Can Expect

  • No interruption to sewer service
  • Crews working above ground at maintenance holes (no digging or entry to private property)
