Tay Township to open warming centre during scheduled power outage for Waubaushene on November 30

UPDATE - November 30, 2019, 2:20 P.M.: Power has been restored to Waubaushene.  The warming centre is now closed.

Tay Township to open warming centre during scheduled power outage for Waubaushene on November 30

Tay, Ontario: Tay Township will be opening the Harbour Shore Community Room located at 145 Albert Street, Victoria Harbour, starting at 7:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 as a warming centre for anyone affected by the scheduled power outage in Waubaushene that day.  The warming centre will remain open until power is restored to Waubaushene.

Tables, chairs and somewhere to plug in your cell phone will be made available at the warming centre.  The Victoria Harbour and Port McNicoll branches of the Tay Township Public Library will also be open between 10:30 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. Saturday for those wishing to keep warm and have something to do.

Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd. has advised that the scheduled power outage on Saturday, November 30, starting at 7:00 A.M. is for ongoing repairs to the Waubaushene Municipal Substation.  The outage is expected to last 8-10 hours.

For further information about power outages and electrical service in Tay Township, residents are advised to contact their local power distribution company.  Residents in Waubaushene, Port McNicoll and Victoria Harbour are served by Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd. (www.TayHydro.com / 705-534-7281).  Residents elsewhere are mainly served by Hydro One (www.HydroOne.com / 1-800-434-1235).
