The countdown is on Tay Township! 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections
Elections for municipal government are held every four years on the fourth Monday of October. The length of term for municipal elected officials is four years. The current term started in 2022 and ends in 2026. The next municipal election will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026.
In 2026, Tay Township residents and property owners will be able to cast their vote in the Municipal and School Board Elections from anywhere with internet access or telephone service. This means residents will have the ability to vote from the comfort of their own home, on-the-go, at the Municipal Office, or at a Pop-Up Voter Assistance Centre - more information on voter assistance and voting locations will be available in 2026.
Eligible voters (residents and property owners) will elect the following positions:
- Mayor;
- Deputy Mayor;
- Five (5) Councillors (elected at-large); and a
- School Board Trustee
Make sure you are on the Voter's List! Visit RegisterToVoteON.ca today to check to see if you are on the voter's list, update your information, or add yourself to the list. Your voice is important make sure you are on the list and REGISTER TO VOTE!
- Important Dates for the 2026 Municipal Election
- Nomination Period: May 1, 2026 (8:30am) to August 21, 2026 (2:00pm)
- Deadline for Withdrawal of Nominations: August 21, 2026 (2:00pm)
- Voting Period: Advanced voting begins on September 26, 2026
- Election Day: October 26, 2026 (ends at 8:00pm)
