In 2026, street sweeping will begin mid-April (weather permitting). This year, street sweeping will begin in Waubaushene, Victoria Harbour, followed by Waverley and will conclude in Port McNicoll. Municipal parking lots will be swept on Tuesdays. Please note that the rotation changes each year to ensure fairness across communities.
Street sweeping is a multi-step process:
-
First Pass – Township Crews
Operations staff conduct an initial sweep of municipal roads to collect larger debris and sand left over from winter control activities. -
Second Pass – Contractor
A contractor follows with a more thorough sweep to remove remaining fine materials and ensure a clean finish. This second pass may not immediately follow the first and is scheduled based on equipment availability and weather conditions.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this annual maintenance activity. Residents can help by avoiding street parking and keeping catch basins clear during sweeping operations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Sweeping usually begins in early spring, after the winter maintenance season has ended. Timing depends on weather and road conditions.
The second pass is completed by a contractor and may be delayed due to scheduling, weather, or availability of equipment. The goal is always to ensure a thorough and effective cleanup.
Neighbourhoods rotate each year so that no one area is always first or last. This helps to balance timing across the Township.
We ask residents to avoid parking on the street during active sweeping to allow equipment to pass through effectively.
